What is a Representative Payee and what does a payee do for me? Does your organization charge a fee for services? With your approval, SLS will file the pertinent paperwork with Social Security Administration, redirecting your funds to an escrow account in your name. As Representative Payee, our organization will receive your monthly Social Security benefits on your behalf and use the funds to pay for your current bills. These may include housing and utilities, food, personal expense funds, and medical. After all current expenses have been paid, the remaining funds may be used to pay past due bills or to save for use in an emergency or for major purchases such as a TV, bicycle or replacement furniture.
